Glenora Guest House - Whitby

Friendly Family Run Guesthouse In West Cliff Area, Lovely Accomodation With Outside Seating Area.

Glenora's proprietors Jenny and Ron Atkin have made extensive improvements to the property over the last few years and are still working hard to build on the reputation Glenora has for friendliness and comfort. Accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis, but an evening meal & snacks can be requested in advance. One look usually convinces guests that they have found the perfect place to stay. The Guest House is a centrally heated & spacious with a lawned front garden and outdoor seating. . Some parking is available on site, or at the roadside. There is also a car park just 50m away that can be used. Glenora is situated conveniently in the West Cliff area of Whitby, a short way from the shops and restaurants of the town centre and harbour.

Whitby is on the NorthEast England Heritage Coast, at the mouth of the river Esk. This flows out through the sheltered harbour and separates the East and West Cliffs. The ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey stand on the East Cliff, high above the narrow streets of the Old Town. From these streets you can climb the 199 steps to St. Mary's church and churchyard, made famous by its association with Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula. If you have an interest in Dracula this can be indulged at the Dracula Experience, or by joining one of the Dracula Ghost Walks. Overlooking the harbour on the West Bank is the memorial to Captain Cook the famous explorer, born in Whitby. There is often the opportuity to explore H. M. Bark Endeavour, a replica of his sailing ship, or the sailing ship Grand Turk that have visited Whitby. The whalebone arch on the West Cliff displays Whitby's past whaling importance and that of the Scoresby father and son, whaling masters. Other famous names include Frank Meadow Sutcliffe the pioneer photographer, whose works you will see around the town, maybe while finding the location for your own photographic masterpiece.
