Smugglers Rock Guest House
One of our lovely bedrooms
Our family room
Panoramic views over Robin Hoods bay from near the guesthouseSmugglers Rock is a Georgian Country House built in 1840 as a coaching inn and is now an eight all en-suite bedroom guesthouse, renovated to a very high standard. The house still retains a tiny window in its east wall where smugglers would watch out for the constabulary and shine a light for fellow smugglers as a signal to bring up the contraband! Guests have the use of a spacious open-beamed lounge and an 'olde-worlde' breakfast room, both with wonderful long distance coastal and countryside views. Smugglers Rock is ideally located in Ravenscar (at the southern end of Robin Hoods' Bay) and we have on our doorstep: wonderful walks on the Cleveland Way and old railway line and several cycle paths, and as we are situated halfway between Scarborough and Whitby (10 & 12) miles we are perfectly located for exploring the area.

The guest house is set in the midst of the North York Moors National park and has 28 acres of farmland with friendly horses, chickens, geese and ducks. We hold the new 4 star rating with the English Tourist Board and have Associate Membership with the AA, both of which ensures a high standard of accommodation. Directions: Take the A171 (Scarborough to Whitby) road. About 6 miles from Scarborough follow the turn off for Ravenscar. Just before the village, we are on the left hand side of a bend in the road (opposite the old windmill) **Sorry but we do not accept wedding guests or children under the age of 5 in the guesthouse** **The guest house is totally non-smoking**
All our bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms (most bathrooms have been newly refurbished), and all have colour TV, hairdrier and tea/coffee making facilities.
