The Lawns is a spacious house with a delightful south facing garden. From the elevated site all rooms enjoy magnificent views across the Esk valley towards the North York Moors. We are three miles from Whitby ideally situated for exploring the coast, the Esk valley with it's picturesque villages and the dramatic moors. Guests have sole use of the lounge. Here tea and cake are served on arrival. The dining room has separate tables and breakfast is served at a time to suit you.

Whitby and its surrounding villages are reached by a wonderful drive across the North York Moors whether approached from the south west via York and Pickering, south from Scarborough or north west from Teeside and Guisborough. Our particular situation makes the beaches and cliffs on the Coast, the delightful villages in the Esk Valley and the open Moorland easily accessible. There are circular walks and excursions from the house. The lane which passes in front of 'The Lawns' links the footpath from Aislaby to Ruswarp where there is boating on the Esk and a small golf course. From here you can take the Esk Valley Way east to Whitby or west back to Briggswath. Sandsend can be reached via Newholm and the hidden Raithwaite valley with a return along the 2 mile stretch of beach towards Whitby. A longer walk is to Robin Hood's Bay by the disused railway line through Stainsacre and Hawsker returning on the coastal path which is part of the Cleveland Way.
