Our lovely converted 17th century farmhouse can fit 11 people comfortably, perfect for two families or a group of friends who want to holiday together. The large kitchen, with its long refectory table and Rayburn in the corner, is ideal for those big holiday breakfasts and dinners. We have two living rooms, one with a television, video and DVD (perhaps the TV and games room for the youngsters?), the other with a CD player, and both with open fires. The house is in the heart of the village, just behind the village pub, the Buck Inn, which serves good food and excellent ales. The house itself is set in a quiet courtyard, with stunning views up to Buckden Pike, the hill that rises sharply behind the village. There's an open patio with a built-in barbecue, ready for that perfect summer's evening. Other Facilities of the cottage are the Kithen fully equipped; large refectory table; Aga; electric cooker; dishwasher; microwave; no high chairs but two boosters seats; fridge; fridge/freezer; toaster; kettle. A boiler room with washer/drier; room used to dry damp clothes and walking boots. 2 living rooms, both with open fires, one with CD/stereo and the other with TV/video/DVD. A garage separate garage with chopped wood and logs (there is no room for a car, but it can be used to park bicycles should you bring them) Also there is parking space for three cars, with further spaces just down the lane that leads to the house.
Buckden is very, very picturesque. It's a small village and farming is still central to the community; there is one working farm in the village itself and another two or three just up the valley. Buckden is remote (although certainly not isolated!) and it really feels like you've got away from it all. The beauty of the neat, drystone-walled fields in the valley, combined with the rugged, wind-swept hills is breathtaking '` and what with the bag-fuls of fresh air, spending any time there is a genuinely invigorating experience. Come to Buckden and rejuvenate!
