Helmsley has its own impressive castle with its 12th century ruins towering over the town, and there is also an open air swimming pool open from June until September for the kids to enjoy. If you want to travel slightly further afield you can appreciate the beautiful North York Moors National Park areas with the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train that will take you from Pickering to Whitby, or the coastal resorts of Whitby and Scarborough for a seaside day out or the historic city of York with its stunning Minster is only 40 minutes away.
