Seaton is a very small village in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The village is around three miles from the centre of Hornsea at the opposite end of Hornsea Mere, a bird sanctuary and Yorkshire's largest freshwater lake, popular for fishing and sailing. Hornsea itself is one of the Yorkshire coast's smaller seaside resorts, though it does attract large numbers of visitors, as it is at the eastern end of the Trans Pennine Trail and has some lovely well-maintained walking and cycling paths. It also boasts a long stretch of sandy beach backed by a recently renovated, award-winning promenade with shops, gardens and places to grab a bite to eat. There are more cafes, restaurants and pubs in the compact town centre with something to suit all tastes and budgets. Shoppers too are well catered for with Hornsea Freeport, a large factory outlet village with over 30 shops, places to eat & drink and a children's soft play centre.
May Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage, upon entering you find yourself in the light and airy lounge, with soft, warm décor and comfortable seating complimented by a real, log-burning fire and a television with DVD player. There is a small dining area too with a pine table and chairs. Adjacent is the kitchen, a compact space but nevertheless well equipped with an oven and hob, microwave, kettle and toaster, and a washing machine. The kitchen offers access to the garden to the rear of the cottage which is an enclosed patio with seating. A bathroom with 'shower over' bath completes the ground floor, whilst upstairs there's double and twin bedrooms, both with comfortable beds to ensure a restful nights sleep.
Here at May Cottage we welcome four-legged friends as much as their owners, the garden offers a place to answer the call of nature and there are plenty of dog-friendly walks nearby. A maximum of two dogs are allowed. There is parking available on the roadside opposite the cottage which is a very quiet rural lane. The cottage benefits from electric heating and logs for the sitting room fire are available locally - we do provide an initial supply free of charge.
