Our Grade II listed, two bedroom property sleeps a maximum of four guests and two well-behaved pets. The accommodation is comfortably furnished throughout with period features complimented by modern amenities. We welcome families, and provide facilities for those with infants, and are happy to accommodate couples sharing.
The small village of Kirby Hill is close to the border between North Yorkshire and County Durham. The village is notable for its Grade I listed medieval church and its traditional 18th Century inn offering real ales and excellent restaurant and bar meals. It is surrounded by dramatic moorland and gentle dales and is just four miles from Richmond and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As such the village is ideal for fans of the outdoors with great opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding amongst the many outdoor activities available locally and in the Dales. If you are looking for family friendly attractions nearby you should check out the imposing castle ruins in Richmond to the south and Barnard Castle to the north, or the unique visitor attraction The Forbidden Corner half and hour's drive away in Coverham.
Our 16th Century cottage comprises of; an entrance hall leading to a large sitting room complete with exposed beams, a stone flagged floor, comfortable seating and a feature fireplace with multi-fuel stove. Next is the kitchen, a traditional farmhouse-style kitchen with good selection of modern appliances and a dining area. On to the first floor where there is a well-appointed master double bedroom with a pretty iron and brass frame bed and a twin bedroom, also with metal frame beds. Both bathrooms are served by a full bathroom with bath & 'shower over'. There is an additional lavatory to the rear of the property within a separate store room building.
We have equipped West Cottage for comfort and relaxation and have included a good range of equipment for catering and entertainment including TV, DVD player and radio. There are night storage heaters throughout the property which are free to use from the end of March to the end of September, and chargeable at other times for a small weekly fee. An initial supply of logs for the lounge are supplied free of charge, with additional fuel readily available locally. There is a walled garden with a terrace and barbecue. Off-street parking is available 25 yards away on a first-come first-served basis.
