Lovely stone built cottage suitable for up to six people, overlooking the countryside and River Swale.
High Smarber Holiday Cottage is ideal for a self catering holiday for groups or families of up to six people. Nestling in Swaledale, part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and 'Herriot Country', this cottage boasts stunning views over the surrounding country side and River Swale. All rooms have been pleasantly decorated and well maintained. You can snuggle up in the comfortable lounge with open coal fire and the well equipped modern kitchen is perfect for home cooking. Alternatively you can eat out, Swaledale has plenty of fine country pubs, and there is a selection of restaurants a little further away.
If outdoor activities are what you enjoy doing, there are plenty to choose from such as walking, cycling, bird watching, horse riding, caving, angling, golfing and visiting local gardens. There are also many sites of historical interest including Maiden Castle, the ruins of Fountains Abbey, Easy Abbey, Jervaulx Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey, not to mention Bolton Castle, Middleham Castle, Richmond Castle and Skipton Castle. Castle Howard is a beautiful stately home worth visiting along with Newby Hall. High Smarber is also an ideal base for visiting the city of York and smaller towns include Harrogate, Ripon, Richmond and Wensleydale.
The ground floor of the cottage comprises of a fully modernized kitchen with electric fan cooker, a microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, kettle, crockery and cutlery. There is also a dining table with seating for six people. The lounge contains an open fire suitable for burning coal or wood, three chairs and a sofa suitable for three people. There is also a colour television with excellent reception, a payphone and a selection of guidebooks and maps. Upstairs there are three bedrooms comprising of a master bedroom with king size bed. A twin bed room with infant crib and a second twin bed room. The bathroom has a traditional bath tub with power shower, hand basin, shaver point, heated towel rail and W/C. There is also a laundry room with a modern washing machine and tumble dryer. The garage and drive provides plenty of room for parking.
High Smarber Holiday Cottage is in an idyllic and peaceful setting. The nearest shop is five miles away and the nearest supermarket is fifteen miles away.
