Situated in eight acres of rural Yorkshire five miles from the centre of York, Merricote Cottages are a perfect place to relax and an ideal base for exploring the region. Buildings at the heart of what was once a traditional working farm have been sympathetically converted to create seven superb self catering cottages, each with its own character, along with a detached four-bedroom bungalow.
Merricote Holiday Cottages are set on the fringes of the wonderful medieval city of York. The City makes a fantastic day out with its magnificent Minster, interesting Jorvik Viking Museum, the historic Shambles with an interesting array of individual shops. A wide range of restaurants and pubs, theatre and attractions make York a top visitor attraction. Rural Yorkshire has a huge network of paths and bridleways maing it ideal for lovers of the great outdoors. Walking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding are all available in the area.
Merricote Holiday Cottages offer a choice of eight cottages on a self catering basis. All cottages are fitted and equipped to a highstandard and have been awarded 3 Star status. The latest cottage to the collection is Ellerburn. Set on the fringes of the wonderful medieval city of York, this extremely comfortable property boasts an acre of lovely, private landscaped gardens and its own heated indoor swimming pool. Nutmeg and Fennel Cottages both sleep 2, Fennel, Sage, Parsley, Rosemary, Lavender and Thyme all sleep up to 4 persons and The Bungalow can accommodate up to 8. All the accommodation is centrally heated, with modern bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable seating areas with TV and Broadband. Other facilities include ample safe parking, a shared hot tub and trampoline and a laundry room. Children are very welcome, and in addition to a secure play area they will find plenty to keep them busy and happy in the vicinity. Also available is Ellerburn Lodge, a superb four bedroom, three bathroom house, set in an acre of private gardens with its own indoor heated swimming pool. Cots and high chairs can be provided for toddlers. The warm, welcoming atmosphere generated by the owner and the high standard of accommodation bring guests back to the cottages, which are located off the A64 York-Scarborough road. They are open throughout the year.
