This charmingly renovated cottage offers self catering accommodation for up to 6 guests two generous bedrooms (one double and one twin). During the spring and summer months sheep and lambs graze the river bank which is part of the farm and elsewhere the farm grows wheat, rape and peas. We have a wind farm to harvest electricity and use a ground source heating pump to heat the buildings. Perfectly placed for York, Hull, Doncaster and Leeds, as well as offering easy access to motorways, particularly the M62. There are stunning views on all four sides of the farm taking in the plains of York, the River Ouse, Drax Power Station and expansive farmland.
Guests to Rusholme Grange Cottage can enjoy a choice of riverside and country walks in the area, plus the village of Drax is only half an hours stroll away and has a lovely local pub. Here you will also find a village shop and historic church. A little further afield is the village of Camblesforth with more pubs as well as both a fish and chip shop and an Indian takeaway. Local places of interest are Selby town with it's traditional Monday market and Selby Abbey which is the largest parish church in England. North from Selby is the historic city of York with it's mediaeval Minster and streets such as the The Shambles. Further north still are the North Yorkshire Moors - Heartbeat country and home to Hogsmeade Station from the Harry Potter films. There are plenty of places to visit near Selby with York, Leeds and Sheffield all close by.
This charmingly renovated cottage offers self catering accommodation for up to 6 guests two generous bedrooms (one king size bed and one twin), with ample space for a cot if needed. The twin bedroom overlooks the Orchard and the king bed overlooks the farm yard. There's a family bathroom, with a bath, overhead shower and toilet. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated with fresh, light and modern colours. The ground floor has three separate rooms. A fitted kitchen which includes amenities such as a microwave, a traditional pantry with cold shelf, a dining room with a large dining table that can comfortably seat six and a very cozy sitting room with an open fire. The cottage benefits from central heating throughout, and a decor which combines modern colours with a traditional cottage atmosphere. To the rear of the cottage, is a beautiful orchard (please pick your own apples in the Autumn) with spacious lawned garden to the front. Ideal for children to play. Guests can also make use of the superb BBQ included in the cottage amenities. The cottage can sleep up to six, if you have extra family members such as children, by using a very comfortable fold down double bed. This can be placed with ease into either bedroom. There is also space to add the cot!
On the farm we have horses, pigs, hen and geese and lots of wheat. In spring lambs graze along the riverbank, in autumn there are fresh apples to be picked and eaten straight from the orchard or baked into pies! Unfortunately as we are a working farm we can't let your pet visit, so sorry no dogs or other pets. An Accessibility Statement for the cottage is available to those who require one.
