Our nearest railway stations are Malton and Thirsk both 14 miles away. The nearest mainline station is York which is 24 miles from Helmsley. Some east coast main line trains do stop at Thirsk and a taxi from Thirsk is less expensive than from York! Public transport does exist in the area but it is infrequent and does meander round the villages which is great if you the time but a bit tedious if you haven’t.
