It was at the Wheatsheaf in 1941 that James Herriott and his wife Helen spent their honeymoon. In his book he describes how much they enjoyed the warm hospitality and excellent food. Today it is still a family owned hotel with proprietors Paul and Carol Mitchell offering the best of local cuisine and comfort
