We understand the needs of the weary traveller for peace and a tranquil atmosphere and this is what we try to offer our valued guests, many of whom return year upon year. Spital Hill is only 9 minutes from the A1 and we are the perfect stopover for people on north/south journeys. Thirsk is a traditional market town with its own racecourse and the North York Moors are not far away. Sparkling lamps and antique furniture adorn our beautiful B&B. Thirsk is a traditional market town with its own racecourse and the North York Moors are not far away where guests can spend an energetic day exploring the picturesque surroundings. There is plenty of things to do in Thirsk, why not pay a visit to the Ritz cinema that dates back to 1912 and is one of Britain's oldest operating cinemas, or browse the World of James Herriot Museum? Slightly further afield are York, Harrogate, Whitby and Scarborough all offering fantastic attractions, shopping and restaurants to satisfy any wants and needs for a day out. We are a perfect base from which to explore the surrounding areas with fantastic access to the A1 and other main roads.

Additional Information

We have two double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and one twin bedded room with a private bathroom. Sparkling lamps and antique furniture adorn our beautiful rooms. Bathrooms are spacious, warm and come equipped with large fluffy towels and are full of extra touches, like bathrobes, to make your stay with us just that little more special. All rooms enjoy views over the Vale of York. Wake up to a delicious breakfast made from only the best local produce.

Specialities

With years of travelling and eating experience, we have developed a superb four course dinner menu for £35. We use only the best ingredients, grow our own vegetables and bake our own bread. The range of dishes we serve makes it impossible to label the cuisine. Start with watercress soup and home baked rolls, or figs wrapped in pancetta and roasted. One of our favourite main courses is traditional English Roast Sirloin, served on the bone with delicious gravy and our own grown horseradish sauce. Delicious desserts are also on offer and range from Fredy Giradet's classic lemon tart with crisp, thin pastry accompanied by our own ice cream. Finish off with a choice of at least four different cheeses and enjoy delicious coffee or tea, accompanied by homemade fudge, or choose from our affordable wine list. On Sundays we offer a traditional Roast Dinner.
