Bowen House is a restored Victorian guest house which offers a relaxing, quiet and friendly place to stay when visiting York combined with traditional warmth and hospitality. Bowen House is in a fantastic location, close to the City Centre and amenities with free off street parking covered by CCTV. We have five comfortable bedrooms, four ensuite and one with its own private bathroom. Start your day off with a hearty breakfast served in our airy conservatory and linger over a cup of fresh coffee and decide how to spend your day.

York is renowned for its long history and the city walls that surround York are some of the finest and most complete in the country. Combining its history with a vibrant city centre offering a continental cafe culture there is much for visitors to see and experience in York. There are special events and speciality market days held throughout the year which will enhance your visit. York Minster dominates the skyline and is only a ten minute stroll from Bowen House and remains at the heart of the city’s top attractions. Both the Minster and Shambles are surrounded by cobbled streets and alleyways enticing you to explore. A diverse array of shops including antique and book dealers, craft shops, boutiques as well as all the high street names are on offer in the city. The City has many shady squares, gardens, tea rooms and riverside bars, to enjoy a relaxing drink or bite to eat. There are many hidden gems in and around the City that will delight you.

We have five comfortable bedrooms, where you can relax the moment you step inside and start to enjoy your stay. Three Double En-suite, One Twin with its own Private Bathroom and one Double en-suite family room suitable for two adults and one child. There are no bedrooms on the ground floor therefore access is to all bedrooms is by stairs. We are happy to assist where possible with any special requirements. All bathrooms have showers, wash basin, toilet, shaver point, towels and toiletries. Bathrobes are provided for the twin room. All rooms have hospitality trays, hairdryer, colour TV, clock radio and WIFI (subject to range).

We serve a hearty breakfast to get your day underway, featuring the award winning Doreen’s Black Pudding, produced in Yorkshire. Choose from cereals, fruit and yogurt together with your choice of Yorkshire tea, filter coffee or speciality tea. This is followed by our full English Breakfast or you can just make a selection to suit your appetite and taste. We are able to cater for Vegetarian and special diets however prior notice the day before is required. Breakfast is served from 8.30 to 9.15.
