Galtres lodge is a Two Star Hotel perfectly placed in York city centre within easy walking distance to York specialist shops, and all York attractions. York Minster is just around the corner! Despite our central position, we're still in a secluded and most peaceful spot in the centre. This hotel is a Georgian brick building, with central heating throughout, sympathetically restored in such a way as to retain the warmth and character of the original house. There are thirteen bedrooms, comprising single, double and twins. Some rooms open onto a view of the famous Rose Window of the Minster. All our rooms are serviced daily.

We are a fully licensed hotel and guests can choose from quick snacks or a full three course meal, available throughout the day. Situated within the hotel is our restaurant, Michael's Brasserie, which is non-smoking for the comfort of our guests. Michael's policy is to introduce new aspects to his menus. With the guidance of an extremely talented Thai chef he has introduced a dedicated fresh fish range of dishes from around the world that varies each week. Special diets are catered for, although we request that you inform us of details of this or any other special arrangement when booking.

Rooms Description

Half of the accommodation is en suite, one room has a King size bed and two have original half-tester beds. For those without private facilities there is ample bathroom capacity including showers, and all remaining rooms are fitted with washhand basins and some with WC.

Specialities

Traffic restrictions were implemented in York city centre during 1987. Guests in private cars or taxis may arrive at or leave the hotel at any time of day. Parking arrangements are usually available to guests for a nominal charge, please ask for details when booking. We do often offer special mid-week or mid-season breaks at competitive rates, please ask for details of any current offers when booking your stay with us. Wi-Fi internet service is now available.
