The Crown Hotel is an exquisite 16th century coaching inn in Helmsley, perfect for romantic breaks or walking weekend breaks. Tastefully modernised throughout, the inn still retains it's Old World charm. Helmsley is a small, delightful market town in the heart of Ryedale and the hotel inn overlooks the Market Square. On the edge of the beautiful North York Moors, it is less than an hours drive to the coastal resorts of Whitby (Heartbeat Country), Scarborough and Filey, and to the South the historic city of York. Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and Nunnington Hall are close by. We are a family run hotel well known for our warm and friendly atmosphere and our superb traditional English cooking.

The hotel benefits from two Bars serving traditional Yorkshire Real Ale. Bar snacks are served here at lunchtime and also in a no smoking lounge and dining room. Traditional country cooking can be sampled all day in the Jacobean Dining Room. Fresh local produce is used whenever possible and we bake our own bread buns, cakes, scones and pies. Lunch is served seven days a week. Why not sample our famous Afternoon and High Teas! A full four course Dinner or meal in the Bar are offered in the evening with a wide choice of main courses, and all desserts are home made. Wines are sensibly priced too. There is car parking space at the front of the hotel and a private car park at the rear.
