The George and Dragon Hotel awarded 4 star inn status by Visit Britain is a very unique place, created by combining the original 17th Century Coaching Inn with the adjoining rectory and Cornmill to make 20 bedroomed hotel of real charm A haven of hospitality in the sleepy market town of Kirkbymoorside ("church by the moor"). The new owners David & Alison Nicholas who took over this once glorious hotel have dedicated themselves to restoring it's former status. A sympathetic refurbishment has made the once tired looking bar, bistro & restaurant areas stylish, welcoming and comfortable. The perfect place to meet, relax, unwind, eat and drink. A brand new kitchen was installed facilitating even better food & service standards. Ideally situated between Helmsley and Pickering in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Rich in history, heritage and beauty, the G & D has a real 'olde English' pub atmosphere hard to find nowadays. Serving top-quality food, we host a Carvery every Sunday, local real ales and a great selection of wines are available. Bar, bisro & fine restaurant , 20 en-suite bedrooms. The George & Dragon Hotel is both family owned and run, this is evident from the enthusiasm that prevails and commitment to our motto '.....a heritage of hospitality'. At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking that it is just another attractive pub set on the square of a typical Yorkshire Market town, but once inside you will be pleasantly surprised.
The rooms are individually styled each with a cosy feel there are standard doubles, twins & family rooms and a selection of superior rooms & suites. You will find quality furniture, modern bathrooms and remote control colour television, hospitality tray, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and clock radio. We also have a private car park at the rear of the hotel. Our two suites are particularly spacious one has a grandoise oak four-poster bed the other a 5ft. wrought iron bedstead.
Sports enthusiasts will find a collection of cricket, rugby and golf memorabilia particularly fascinating; photographs, autographs, prints and paraphernalia adorn every wall in the Dinning Bar.
