The Georgian Three Tuns Hotel is a renowned and historic Thirsk hotel, built in 1698. In 1740 the house was adapted to a coaching inn, being on the Leeds-Edinburgh coach run. James Herriot was a frequent visitor to the hotels bar, and Wordsworth stayed in 1802 on his way to his wedding. York, Durham, Harrogate and Whitby are all easily accessible from our central location between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorshire Moors. Thirsk Racecourse is a short walk from the hotel, and we cater for Coach Parties with menu's designed to suit the needs of the party. Market Town Thirsk has much to offer including the James Herriot Museum. The hotel sits on Thirsk's attractive cobbled Market Place in the centre.

This historic hotel has many amenities including an attractive restaurant seating 70, which is open to residents and non-residents every evening, and we offer a varied menu of traditional and continental dishes. There are two bars, a lounge bar and a cocktail bar/residents' lounge. Bar snacks are served every lunchtime and evening, and a children's menu is available. Our function room with dance area caters for wedding receptions, meetings, annual dinners and similar occasions. We have 12 centrally heated bedrooms, all of which have en-suite bath or shower and W.C. All rooms have direct dial telephone, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Three of the bedrooms can be used as family rooms.
