The Cavalier Hotel is a stunning Grade II listed Georgian Town House dating back to 1794. This Charming York hotel is centrally placed adjacent to Monkgate Bar, in the heart of York. We're the perfect accommodation base for exploring all of York's many attractions, and the hotel is just 500 yards from York Minster! Guests have easy access to York Museums, the Jorvik centre and both the Rail Station and major routes to the East coast, the Yorkshire Moors and Dales and also the A1/M1. Owners Julia and James have lived in York for eighteen years and are happy to help you with your itineraries, travel plans, restaurant and taxi bookings.
A large resident's lounge equipped with magazines, books, local information, games, and piano. Complimentary sherry is available for guests. No need to worry about parking in York, as parking is included in the room rate, either in reserved bays or garages. We also have a secure motorbike and cycle store. Fresh flowers, paintings and personal touches are to be found in abundance at the Cavalier Hotel.
Rooms Description
All our comfortable rooms are non-smoking, en-suite, and come with Full English breakfast included (vegans and vegetarians are catered for on request). The Cavalier has ten elegant bedrooms (including two large family rooms). Almost all are en-suite and for those rooms without private facilities there is ample bathroom capacity including shower and baths, and all remaining rooms are fitted with hand basin and bathrobes. Other amenities in rooms include colour TVs, CD/Radio/Alarm clocks, free tea and coffee, complimentary toiletries, fresh towels and hairdryers. Iron and ironing board facilities, ice and wine glasses, hair straightener, extra towels and toiletries are all available on request.

Directions
If travelling from the North, follow the A19 to the city walls and turn left at the lights. Turn right at the next set of lights into Lord Mayors Walk. Turn left at the next Lights; this is Monkgate. The Cavalier is about 250 yards on the left. Directions from the South, Approaching York on the A64, pass through the traffic lights on the dual carriageway (this is the start of the York bypass) and take the third exit towards York -the York / Hull A1079. Follow the road to the third set of lights, at the city walls, and turn right onto Foss Islands Road. Go straight over the next set of lights and follow the city walls -this road is one way. Take the right hand lane and turn right at the traffic lights. This is Monkgate, the Cavalier Hotel is about 250 yards on the left.
