Our hotel will delight you with its tranquillity yet close proximity to all York’s main tourist attractions and businesses. Opening in 1973 with the first building, the hotel now comprises a collection of six historically listed buildings, restored from dereliction over the past 30 years by the Clark family, and sympathetically modernised providing a variety of styles throughout its 57 bedrooms. Here you can kick off your shoes, make yourself at home and take some time out from life’s hustle and bustle and watch the world go by.

The hotel is ideally located within the ancient city walls of historic York, and catering for customers visiting for business or pleasure, extends you a warm and friendly welcome. Our kitchen team produces tempting dishes based on local, national and international cuisine, the emphasis being the use of locally produced fresh food. All special diets can be catered for, but advance notice is appreciated to allow for the purchase of specific requirements. Relaxed and unpretentious, dinner is served by our Restaurant team each evening in either the Conservatory or Sawmill dining room. Ideal for a light snack in the lounge or evening dinner, you won’t be disappointed.
