The Churchill Hotel is a superb example of a late Georgian mansion built around 1827 for Mrs Barbara Ashton-Nelson. Over the years the house has been a girls school, a grace and favour home and military offices. In 1984 the house was purchased by the current owners who have lovingly restored it its former glory, carefully retaining many of its original features. Set in its own grounds, the house is ideally situated just a short walk from the Minster and all major city attractions.

It is also just a short drive to the North Yorkshire Moors, Dales and spectacular coast. Why not make our mansion your home when visiting this most beautiful of cities?

Rooms Description

All the rooms at The Churchill have a unique feel to them and offer a luxurious and convenient place to relax during your stay. Many of the rooms have four poster-beds and all have en-suite spa baths/showers. We have rooms to suit all needs including family rooms and single occupancy. Our honeymoon suite is one of the finest in York and is perfect for that special night. Since each room has a unique theme and feel, no trip to The Churchill is ever the same and many returning guests often ask to "try a different room" or even ask to be put in their 'favourite'. All of our rooms offer the following: + En-suite spa baths/showers + Colour Television + Tea/coffee making facilities + Direct-dial telephones + Hair dryers + All linen and towels provided + Access to rooms is available at all times + Ironing and laundering service available on request

Our restaurant is open between 18:00 & 21:30 (20:30 Sundays) Our philosophy is simple: we change our menus with the seasons and try our best to buy from local farms, producers and suppliers in and around the Vale of York, from individuals who care about the stock they rear and the fruit and vegetables that they grow.
