The Inn dates back to the mid-seventeenth century and oozes traditional charm and character. The Inn also serves an exquisite, home cooked a la carte menu with vegetarian and children's options available as well as a choice of daily specials. Meals are served at lunchtimes and evenings, 7 days a week, and on Sunday’s a traditional Sunday Lunch is served.

The village of Goathland, famous as the setting for the popular television programme, 'Heartbeat' is also within easy reach. Just to the south is the pretty market town of Kirkbymoorside with its many fine independent shops, markets and traditional inns. Guests based in The Royal Oak also have easy access to the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors Railway departing from nearby Pickering through the heart of the North York Moors National Park to Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast.
The Royal Oak Inn currently has 8 letting bedrooms, 6 with double beds, one Superior and one with twin beds. All 8 bedrooms are both comfortable and elegant, and are all well-equipped with en-suite bathrooms with either bath or shower, w.c. And wash basin. Each bedroom has central heating, with all the luxuries of a home away from home, including a Free-view Flat Screen TV, wireless broadband connection, tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a Radio alarm clock and hairdryer.
