Warm and welcoming, The Royal Oak Inn in Gillamoor village boasts a wonderfully peaceful location on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. The Inn dates back to the mid-seventeenth century and oozes traditional charm and character. Whether you join us for a weekend break, a holiday or just an over night stay, our 4 star accommodation is the perfect choice. The Inn also serves an exquisite, home cooked a la carte menu with vegetarian and children's options available as well as a choice of daily specials. Meals are served at lunchtimes and evenings, 7 days a week, and on Sunday’s a traditional Sunday Lunch is served.
We are surrounded by beautiful open countryside and the Inn makes the perfect base from which to explore the area. There is plenty to see and do during your stay. The area is ideal for walkers and cyclists with the North York Moors on your doorstep. The beautiful dale of Ferndale is close by, famous for its Spring daffodil walk, as is the village of Hutton le Hole which has a folk museum. The village of Goathland, famous as the setting for the popular television programme, 'Heartbeat' is also within easy reach. Just to the south is the pretty market town of Kirkbymoorside with its many fine independent shops, markets and traditional inns. Guests based in The Royal Oak also have easy access to the spectacular North Yorkshire Moors Railway departing from nearby Pickering through the heart of the North York Moors National Park to Whitby on the Yorkshire Coast.
The Royal Oak Inn currently has 8 letting bedrooms, 6 with double beds, one Superior and one with twin beds. All 8 bedrooms are both comfortable and elegant, and are all well-equipped with en-suite bathrooms with either bath or shower, w.c. And wash basin. Each bedroom has central heating, with all the luxuries of a home away from home, including a Free-view Flat Screen TV, wireless broadband connection, tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a Radio alarm clock and hairdryer. Wake up to a delicious home cooked breakfast or lighter option.
On-site guest car park situated to the rear of the Inn with additional on street parking available. For walkers drying facilities are available as well as Packed lunches on request. Dogs are welcome in some rooms. The B&B inn is Grade II Listed and features stunning original features including atmospheric open fire and old oak beamed ceilings. Ideally located for walking and touring in the North York Moors and within easy driving distance of York, Castle Howard and local golf around Kirkbymoorside.
