Our charming country pub and restaurant is situated in the village of Weaverthorpe, right in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside. Recently refurbished and under new ownership, our 200 year old inn boasts a lounge bar, games area, a 30 cover restaurant, ensuite rooms, car park and beer garden. We provide a range of real ales, locally sourced food, cooked by a well known Whitby chef and homely accommodation to provide a fantastic all round experience.
Why not enjoy a delicious meal in our restaurant? All our food is fresh and locally sourced. We take pride in the food we produce, so where possible we make everything ourselves for fresh, tasty flavours. This includes delicious bread, baked daily and home made desserts, including freshly created ice cream. Guests can spend a fantastic break in North Yorkshire with being only 30 minutes from Scarborough and the many shops, restaurants and historic sites throughout the market town. Take a trip further afield and spend a day out in York visiting the many gardens, shops and sites such as Clifford's Tower and Castle Howard or the famous York Minster
The Star Country Inn has three letting rooms which will sleep up to eight people. They are all newly decorated and have en-suite shower rooms with two double and one family room. They are equipped with a colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities.
We are family friendly but have no disabled access. A typical menu might include bruschetta with chargrilled peppers & goats cheese to start, a beer battered fillet of Whitby Fish with chips, or fragrant green Thai curry for a main. We also serve vegetarian options. Our specials include delicacies such as pan seared Shetland king scallops with curried parsnip puree and parsnip crisps (with a delicious, sweet, woody flavour) and panfried breast of pigeon served with a watercress salad & a walnut dressing. All served in a cosy dining room with tasteful furnishings and exposed brick walls.
