Discover the fascinating history of Wortley Hall, which began life as a stately home, but in 1951 was opened as an educational and holiday centre for workers, supported by the labour and co-operative movement. It was volunteers from communities in South Yorkshire who renovated the semi-derelict Wortley Hall in the 1950s. It became a host venue for many labour movement events, plus during the 1980s Miners Strike Wortley Hall provided meals for striking miners. Your touching the history of the labour movement when you stay at Wortley, and the co-operative ethos remains integral to our service.
Facilities are extensive, and perfect for large events. Our two dining rooms can accommodate 100 and 44 delegates, and our large bar has a games room and offers pub prices, not hotel prices! A large lounge and library are available to guests, plus the use of extensive superb grounds featuring an abundance of peaceful walks, wildlife, woodland and a small lake.
