The Folly is a grade I listed building in the centre of Settle in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The ground floor of the north wing has been lovingly restored to provide five star self catering holiday accommodation for the more discerning visitor. The Folly was built in 1679 was by a wealthy local merchant and remains the town's only grade I listed property, having been scarcely changed since the late seventeenth century. Period features remaining include the arched inglenook fireplace and the oak panelled wainscott.
There is much to see and do, both in Settle and the surrounding area. The market place is the centre of things in the town centre and a regular market has been held here every Tuesday since 1249. Settle railway station is a mere four minutes away and is a superbly restored example of Midland Railway architecture, as well as being the starting point for the famous and incredibly scenic Settle-Carlisle railway Line. The surrounding countryside is interlaced with underground watercourses and caves, Ingleborough Cave and Whitescar Cave being perhaps the most famous, and accessible.
