You are guaranteed a warm Dales welcome at Thornton Lodge, a luxurious country house offering 5* Gold Awarded B&B in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Located between Aysgarth Falls and Hawes on a tranquil lane, surrounded by pasture land this really is an idyllic place to stay whether on your own, or for a gathering of friends and family. Guests are at leisure to relax within the house and grounds throughout their stay, with our aim being to provide a home from home experience within a magnificent setting.

We have nine individually styled rooms, each thoughtfully decorated in keeping with their Edwardian surroundings. Everyone who visits us has a favourite room - usually the one they've stayed in! Most of the rooms are doubles - king and super-king with marvellous views from huge sash windows. We have a large family suite which is more usually occupied as a magnificent super-kingsized suite. We have 2 rooms with double beds which are preferentially allocated as singles and we have a fantastic wheelchair accessible room which can be a twin or super-kingsized room including an adapted bathroom. We regret that the property is unsuitable for pets, although we will gladly accept assistance dogs free of charge.

Breakfast is served in the magnificent oak panelled dining room where you can start the day with a choice of fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts, cereals and a hearty cooked breakfast. Evening meals are available by prior arrangement with the speciality being roasted Wensleydale beef with Yorkshire puddings and seasonal vegetables. We also serve the most delicious Wensleydale lamb roasts. Lighter alternatives are also available and other dishes can be prepared on request. The surrounding villages are also home to fabulous places in which to eat and we would be happy to book you into any of these during your stay.

Special to this property

As we are not licensed, guests are encouraged to bring their own wine along with them to enjoy with their meal or in their rooms after a busy day. Packed lunches are also available on request but we ask that you please order these the day before so we can make them up to individual requirements. We are open March to November, with the house available for group bookings of 10 or more guests during winter.
