Situated in Sleights, we are just 3 miles from Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast. There is free parking directly outside the house. Conveniently located: there is a bus stop and train station just 5 minutes walk from our accommodation with regular services to Whitby, York and Middlesborough. In the village, there are 2 pubs, a cafe, a butcher, a baker, a general store, a post office , a fish and chip restaurant and a garden centre with a beautiful riverside cafe.
Beechlands is a good base to visit some of the beautiful places in the area. Days can be spent visiting coastal towns and villages: Whitby, Scarborough, Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay are all nearby. Inland there are the North Yorkshire Moors to explore and many picturesque villages to visit. A few minutes drive from Beechlands is the popular village of Goathland (Aidensfield), where the TV series Heartbeat was filmed. Other traditional villages to visit nearby are Thornton Dale, Lockton, Levisham, Grosmont, Rosedale, Farndale and Hutton-le-Hole Walk along the stunning sea cliffs; visit beautiful beaches and the picturesque moorlands covered in miles of purple heather. The area has a lot to offer: there are woodlands, streams, waterfalls, historic buildings and picturesque villages to discover. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway covers 18 scenic miles through the National Park and stops at many traditional villages, including Sleights. The trains can be seen from our house. It's a wonderful area to visit with plenty of charm and character
