You will enjoy just being in the Barn for all its design features yet we are also well placed for you to explore Ryedale with its country houses and lovely gardens and the wide variety of eating possibilities. A drive to the Coast across the North York Moors allows the delights of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough while Dalby Forest is close by for walking, biking or just enjoying nature. Close by in Pickering - a market town steeped in history - there is the North Yorkshire Moors steam Railway - important, historic and simply good fun to enjoy the journey through gorgeous countryside. Wind down and relax in your comfortable cottage and enjoy the cosy atmosphere where we hope to have met your needs by thinking of everything you might require. Beautiful bedding helps you to enjoy a good sleep and the garden of each cottage gives you a private space in which to relax and enjoy the wildlife that comes to visit. You can wander through our own large garden and use the trampoline, enjoy the flowers or spend time trying to see our resident wildlife. Suitable for all ages and enjoyed by those who want to shop in York, ride the bike trails in Dalby or walk on the moors. Be warned - Many find their cottage so comfortable relaxing and cosy they don't really want to stir themselves and go exploring! The Barn is a beautiful architect designed space with all the facilities you may hope for. Set in the grounds of a listed building you are free to explore the garden, paddock with trampoline and the wooded area with its wildlife. The luxury and service offered won us the 'Best self catering in Yorkshire' award from the Yorkshire Tourist Board 2008 and the 'enjoyEngland Gold Award' for best self- catering accommodation 2009. You will be stunned by the Barn with its clean lines, huge space and Grand Designs 'Wow' factor. Two gardens you can call your own, beautiful bathrooms and plenty of features that will appeal to those who like modernity in an old building. Our website gives the chance to plan in advance, bring your laptop to check it out when you arrive, or rely on a wealth of information to help you fully enjoy your visit.
'You have thought of everything' is a frequent comment. The kitchen is very well equipped and is part of the living space which includes a table which extends to seat 10 and the sitting area with flat screen TV. The finishes and materials are a feature and there is a range of lighting effects depending on your mood. Two mezzanine bedrooms, each have their own architect designed stairs. There is a beautiful wetroom with the double room and at the other end of the Barn is a huge modern bathroom serving the twin room and occasional 5th bed/study room. The twin will make into a huge double if required. The large glazed doors invite the stone floor of the living room to extend out across the garden. The Barn has underfloor heating throughout.
You will have a warm welcome and be able to relax as soon as you arrive with a homemade scones and cream tea. In winter a warm fire awaits you. Flowers from our garden and a generous welcome hamper make you feel very special. We are wonderfully situated to be a base for exploring North Yorkshire with extensive moors, beautiful coastline and Dalby Forest. There are excellent cafes and restaurants as well as stately homes and gardens within easy reach. We enjoy helping you to choose your visits so that you can quickly get on and enjoy your holiday.

Many like just to unwind and leave the exploring to others. We like to think we have 'thought of everything' as guests often comment.
Wanting to celebrate with family and friends? We can arrange for your very own chef who will come and cook a meal for you in your cottage.
We still have short breaks available till the end of March. We are offering 4 nights for the price of 3 that is £445. Couples only will have a further £50 reduction so £395.
The Barn is available for breaks from £445 for a short break, or £635 for a week.The Barn has a luxurious 'Grand Design' feel, 5* Gold award and sleeps up to 5 people.
Walking and biking is free from the cottage. You can arrange hire bikes to be dropped off at the door, wash off and lockup for bikes available. There are walking groups to guide you in Pickering and a mountain bike guide and trainer we can direct you to. Great walking shop in Pickering.
