Thornton Le Dale
North Yorkshire
England
This delightful cosy corner cottage is situated in the centre of the village with supermarket, good restaurants and inns within 200 yards. Sleeps 2 to 4.
Thornton le Dale is a historic market village with a traditional market cross and stocks on the village green popular with walkers and tourists. A stream runs through the village and you can admire a much-photographed thatched cottage -- one of very few remaining in this part of North Yorkshire.
It's a short walk along the woodland footpath from the village to Trench Pond -- where the beck runs into. It's also an excellent detour to the sleepy hamlet of Ellerburn 1.5 miles up the valley with its ancient Saxon Church. Don't miss The Bridestones -- an impressive sandstone outcrop situated along the scenic 9 mile Dalby Forest Drive. If you are looking for something more active, Dalby Forest (only 2.5 Miles away) is a fantastic place for walking, running, cycling and nature watching. Try one of several off-road cycling routes for all different ages and abilities.
Accommodation comprises ground floor kitchen/diner, first floor lounge with pull out double bed, second floor bedroom with double bed and en-suite shower and toilet. Facilities include electric heating with open fire on first floor, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and TV. Bed linen provided. Near by village parking.
