About this property

Welcome to Grade 2 listed New House Farm Mistal Cottage. We are located in the centre of the village of Midgley, on an ancient packhorse route. Midgley is a small hilltop village with panoramic views close to beautiful heather moorland and wonderful walking country. The cottage is adjacent to the main house and has its own entrance with level access. Our garden of an acre is occasionally opened for charity and visitors are welcome to browse during their stay.

New House Farm Mistal Cottage is centrally located, just three miles from Hebden Bridge and five miles from Halifax in West Yorkshire. Hebden Bridge has many delightful shops, tearooms, gift shops and independent shops. Markets are open on Wednesdays and Thursdays and a farmers' market operates on the first Sunday of every month. One of England's last remaining independent cinemas is still in operation and offers a wide selection of films. Why not visit one of many art galleries, or take a stroll along the canal? The historic and eco friendly Gibson Mill at Hardcastle Crags is a must visit, while the National Trust woodland site provides wonderful walking opportunities. For the keen walker, the Pennine Way and Calderdale Way offer long-distance pathways through stunning countryside, starting right at our door. Cyclists are also well catered for and maps and guides are available for your use during your stay. Haworth, home to the Brontes is only a short drive away, as is their birthplace at Thornton. The Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach as is York and, for those more interested in shopping, Leeds and Manchester.

Our delightful beamed studio cottage was formerly the mistal, or animal house and has recently been fully converted to provide luxury self-contained up-to-date holiday accommodation for two all on one floor and with underfloor heating. There is a Strachan top quality double bed with wardrobes, and a leather sofa which also converts to a comfortable double bed. A radio, CD player, digital TV and DVD player is provided. There is also a wet room with shower and radiator. The well-equipped kitchen has an electric combi oven with ceramic hobs and a fridge, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. We also provide an iron and ironing board. Outside, there is a private patio with seating and BBQ. Car parking is off road.

We offer a free pick up and return service from the nearest train station-just let us know what time you expect to arrive. Parking is off road and a taxi service operates from the village. A welcome pack is provided containing milk, tea, coffee, bread, local free-range eggs and home-made jam. Basic cooking ingredients are also provided as well as toiletries. Food shopping can be arranged in advance of your visit.
