Horseshoe Cottage is a delightful 18th Century stone built centrally heated cottage (on all year round) with a woodburning stove beamed ceilings and many original features. Situated on a very quiet lane in the small unspoilt village of Starbotton, the cottage nestles under the slopes of Buckden Pike in the very heart of the breathtaking beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, yet just 16 miles north of the bustling market town of Skipton, and Hawes with it's interesting shops and Hawes Creamery lies 16 miles to the west. A visit to the elegant spa town of Harrogate with tea at Betty's is an absolute must! The cottage sleeps 4 in two lovely bedrooms, is south facing and enjoys open fell views.

Starbotton (meaning "the place where stakes are got") has been inhabited since at least the Iron Age, the mines can still be seen on the hillside above. It boasts a traditional Dales Inn serving excellent ales and food. The village is a perfect centre for walking (with five footpaths leading in all directions and the area is criss-crossed with pack horse trails), mountain biking, cycling, fishing, potholing, pony trekking and other outdoor activities. Upper Wharfedale is also the perfect place to stay if you wish to drive to the lush sweeping valley of Wensleydale, Swaledale famous for its sheep and wild flower meadows, Malhamdale with its dramatic limestone scenery or Haworth with its moody moorland and steep cobbled streets. *Change over day is Saturday. *Electricity, Logs for the fire, freshly Laundered bed linen and towels and a welcoming bottle of red wine are included in the holiday price. *It is of the utmost importance to us that the cottage is spotless for your arrival and that your stay is as comfortable as possible. *Dogs strictly by arrangement only, sorry no smoking.
