The Drawing Room faces south, overlooks the garden and is for the exclusive use of our guests.Low Penhowe is a stunningly beautiful Yorkshire retreat, with interior decor of the highest standard. Previous guests point to the attention to detail and nothing being too much trouble for the Philippa and Christopher. The property is a traditional Yorkshire stone built farmhouse with panoramic views overlooking the Howardian Hills and across to the North Yorkshire Moors. We're in an idyllic countryside spot, perfect for getting away from it all, yet close to York and to charming market towns of Malton, Pickering and Helmsley. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park and Yorkshire Wolds are easily accessible. We're ideally located for visiting local Stately homes such as Castle Howard, Duncombe Park and Nunnington Hall. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out as we have 3 excellent pubs all within 3 miles of Low Penhowe.
Our Aga cooked breakfasts are renowned, and we offer a variety of local and homemade produce and always freshly prepared to your particular request. Our breakfast have been awarded the "Deliciously Yorkshire Breakfast" seal of approval. Guests can enjoy a selection of our own free-range eggs, locally cured bacon, sausages and black pudding from our butcher, homemade marmalade, home baked bread, locally grown breakfast cereal and honey from the bees at a nearby farm. Breakfasts are an occasion at Low Penhowe. Our charming dining room, where breakfast is served, has stunning north easterly views stretching across the to Howardian Hills and North Yorkshire Moors.
Two luxury rooms are available to our guests. Both rooms face south, overlooking the well-kept garden and paddocks. From here (depending on the time of the year) you will enjoy seeing our Highland cattle with their and our free range chicken clucking around the paddock. This first floor double room and en-suite bathroom have been refurbished to a very high standard. The bathroom has a separate bath, shower, loo and washbasin. With the first floor Twin/Double you have the choice of having this bedroom made up as a twin with two very comfortable beds or with a very large double bed! When booking, please let us know if you wish the bedroom to be made up as twin or double.
For a larger family or friends travelling together we could make another Double or Twin Room available provided you are prepared to share the private bathroom, which is just along the corridor and has a bath, shower, loo and washbasin. Our additional Double Room faces east and enjoys the morning sun. From here you overlook the rolling hills back towards the Yorkshire Wolds. Our additional Twin Room is situated on the first floor and enjoys magnificent views across the fields to the North Yorkshire Moors. From here you will be able to see Castle Howard and across to the White Horse at Kilburn, some 23 miles away. Low Penhowe has a no smoking policy for the comfort of our guests.Unfortunately we do not accept pets.
