The Tempest Arms is set in magnificent countryside, close to the market town of Skipton, known as the 'Gateway to the Dales'. This tiny hamlet of Elslack, on the A56 just off the A59 on the edge of the Pennine Way, has its own Roman Fort site and the pub itself dates back to 1690 and is set in a verdant hollow with its own stream winding picturesquely round the garden. Although it is now a great deal more than a simple village pub, thanks to a recent extension adding 12 luxury executive suites to the already popular 9 club rooms retaining the character, style and atmosphere of a civilised Country Inn. The spacious new bedrooms are beautifully furnished with hand-crafted furniture, tasteful fabrics, superior bathrooms, some with a private terrace, some with French windows and balconette each with super views. The pub has an eclectic mix of rooms and areas enhanced with wood panelling, open stonework, log fires, subtle candlelight and real beams.

Food is our greatest passion and wherever possible we aim to use fresh local foods. Typically, tuck into the fish pie, Bolton Abbey Estate reared beef cottage pie, award winning pork pie with mushy peas and piccalilli, chilled fish platter of the day or choose off the ever-changing specials 'hymn sheet' boasting the best of fresh fish, game and vegetarian options. Try lamb 'thingy me bob' (a famous local dish) or choose from a selection of sandwiches and the side orders also on offer. We operate a strict No Smoking policy throughout. Babies/Children are welcome and we offer baby changing facilities. Dogs welcome in outside areas and overnight accommodation but not inside the pub. We have wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities. Function rooms ideal for weddings/conferences. We hold a Licence for Civil weddings. Coaches are welcome with prior notice.
