All holiday cottages have access to an indoor heated swimming pool and games room and Ghyll Cottages offer disabled access. They are ideally situated at the head of Wharfedale, from which it is easy to explore the whole of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and beyond.
Dalegarth and The Ghyll Holiday Cottages are set in the lovely village of Buckden. Buckden is centrally situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, 18 miles north of the busy market town of Skipton, amidst some of the finest unspoilt countryside in England. Set beside the River Wharfe, the surrounding limestone fells rising to over 2,000 ft, the village has a calm and spacious natural beauty. For scramblers, ramblers and amblers Buckden offers a wide variety of walks – from the challenge of the Dales Way, Buckden Pike or the high fells to riverside strolls through gentle meadows where one might catch a glimpse of a kingfisher or simply observe the abundant animal, plant and bird life. Discover local locations used in the James Herriot series or, more recently, the 'Calendar Girls', which was filmed extensively in this delightful area.
Dalegarth and The Ghyll Holiday Cottages offer two types of cottage. Dalegarth Cottages - The cottages, both Type a and Type b, feature a twin and a double bedroom, bathroom, fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher/freezer) and a large lounge/dining room offering extensive views of Upper Wharfedale. The lounges include a three-piece suite, dining suite, and an additional fully sprung double divan sofa bed. In addition, the Type a cottages feature a Sauna Room attached to the downstairs bathroom, and an en-suite bathroom to the upstairs bedroom. The southerly facing first floor lounges have a large double glazed sliding picture window leading on to a balcony with dramatic views over the River Wharfe and fells beyond. The Ghyll Cottages - Situated at the foot of Buckden Ghyll, below Buckden Pike, are Heron Ghyll, Dipper Ghyll and Swallow Ghyll Cottages. Designed to sleep a maximum of either 4 or 6, all are equipped to the highest standard with special consideration given to the needs of those with restricted mobility. Each cottage has a level main entrance to the rear. A door and ramp leads from the south-facing lounge onto a patio, offering views over the village to the hills of Upper Wharfedale beyond.
