The Garth B&B and self catering holiday apartment enjoys a wonderful location in the pretty village of West Burton in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. West Burton lies at the heart of 'Herriot Country' and is an ideal base from which to tour Wensleydale by bike, on foot or by car. The Herriot Way walk passes within a mile of the house and The Inn Way includes the Fox and Hounds in West Burton, making The Garth an ideal overnight stop for walkers. Details of other walks in the area are available in the house and we are only too happy to discuss itineraries for those unfamiliar with the area.
Film and TV buffs will enjoy a trip to this area and we are within a day's journey of film sites for the Last of the Summer Wine, Calendar Girls, Heartbeat and Robin Hood Prince of Theives. For the more energetic visitor the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent are all just a short drive away. There are a wide variety of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms to suit every palette and pocket in the area - or you can choose to 'eat in' and enjoy our 'Dish of the Day' evening meal menu.
Rooms Description
The Garth offers flexible B&B accommodation for up to eight guests in two suites, which can be divided if necessary. Mims is a self contained ground floor apartment with double bedroom; sitting room with sofa bed, kitchen/diner with full size cooker, microwave and dishwasher; utility room with washing machine; bathroom; and private courtyard with barbeque. The House Suite consists of the Pine Room and Bunk Room, each with TV and tea and coffee making facilities, and the house bathroom with modern fitted suite and over-bath power shower.
Specialities
A tasty home cooked breakfast is served daily in the traditional dining room, or the adjoining conservatory, or in finer weather in the courtyard towards the rear of the house. There are many excellent restaurants and pubs serving food in the area, or you can order from our home-cooked 'Dish of the Day' menu on arrival if you prefer not to have to go out.

Directions
From the East, take the A1 as far as Leeming Bar and then travel west along the A684 through Bedale and Leyburn. In Leyburn, follow the A684 left at the mini-roundabout and pass through Wensley, West Witton and Swinithwaite. Fork left on the A6160 signposted West Burton and Kettlewell. After approximately 1.5 miles, just past the village sign and 30mph sign, The Garth is on the right opposite Burton Bridge. From the West, leave the M6 at J37 and travel along the A684 through Sedbergh. Just after the town, look out for the road turning right (still the A684) and follow this through Garsdale, Hawes, Bainbridge and Aysgarth. Just after Aysgarth, fork right, signposted West Burton and Kettlewell. Just past the village sign and 30mph sign, The Garth is on the right opposite Burton Bridge. From the South, follow the B6265 north from Skipton, then at Threshfield just outside Grassington, take the B6160 through Kettlewell and Buckden and over Kidstones Pass at Cray and down into West Burton. Turn left just after the village sign and 30mph sign (not right into the village centre). The Garth is on the left immediately opposite Burton Bridge.
