We are located only half a mile from the top of Sutton Bank, home of the Yorkshire Gliding Club and the National Park Visitors Centre. This traditional stone built cottage has been recently converted from an old milking parlour, set in rolling countryside and enjoying spectacular views.
We are also close to the historic market town of Helmsley which has an abundance of shops, award winning delicatessens, quaint tea rooms and restaurants. Rievaulx and Byland abbeys are a stone's throw away. Just 7 miles away is Thirsk, home to the James Herriot Centre and Thirsk racecourse. Further afield but very accessible is the famous city of York and the Heritage Coast, including the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Our central location means that we are the ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.
Spring Farm Cottage is set in 8 acres and shares a site with the owner's house. It sleeps 4 in a comfortable double and twin bedroom.There is an open plan living space with exposed beams and solid oak doors. It is contemporary furnished with widescreen HD TV, Skyplus, DVD and a dining table and four chairs. The kitchen has granite worktops, convection microwave, oven and washer dryer. It is well equipped with everything you'll need for a self catering break. The modern bathroom is tiled in Italian travertine and contains a bath with a shower over, wc and wash basin. Outside is a lawned garden area and ample off road parking. You can also make use of the main house’s barn for the storage of cycles etc. The cottage is fitted with slate tiles (bedrooms are carpeted) with oil fired under floor heating throughout. There is unlimited hot water and all heating, electricity, bedlinen and towels are included.
In addition to the standard welcome tray of milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee and cake, we are pleased to offer some provisions from Hunters of Helmlsey which comprises organic pasta and sauce, eggs, bacon, orange juice, apples, biscuits, cheese, crisps and a bottle of wine all for an additional cost of £30.You will find a selection of books, board games and dvds, plus plenty of books, local information leaflets, maps, walks and ideas of places to visit in the area.
