About this property
Abbots Thorn is a delightful VisitBritain 4 star B&B set in the charming small village of Carlton in the Yorkshire Dale known of Coverdale, which is located on the Middleham to Kettlewell road. We're in the heart of 'Herriot Country', and Carlton is Coverdale's principal village consisting of about 90 houses, we are an ideal base for walking, hiking, fishing or touring in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Abbots Thorn is a 200 year old, traditional, stone-built Dales house that reputedly has the only round chimney stacks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The house has been lovingly converted into a warm and comfortable B&B. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children under 12, but we do welcome well behaved dogs. For the comfort of all we are a no smoking B&B.
Relax and enjoy a full country breakfast featuring traditional, local, produce in our informal dining room. For those with a lighter appetite we have a varied breakfast menu, including American pancakes with maple syrup. The B&B is perfectly located for walkers and we are happy to supply packed lunches on request. We have a comfortable oak beamed guest lounge with books, maps, jigsaw puzzles and games and a wood burning stove for those chilly evenings.

We're a cosy guesthouse with three beautifully appointed guest rooms. Two have en-suite facilities and all rooms feature country pine furniture, full central heating and tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and fresh milk. All rooms have Freeview television, WIFI and a south facing window. Two rooms have window seats so that you can enjoy the stunning views over Coverdale that unfold from our sunny, south facing location. Please note that prices shown for one room are for Jasmine, please contact us for exact pricing.
Special to this property
We are a 200 year old house with superb views over Coverdale in our quiet, peaceful village of Carlton. With fresh eggs from the chickens which roam our garden and homemade bread and marmalade. A warm, friendly welcome awaits.
Availability information
We have availability for Easter, enjoy the Dales, an ideal spot for walking, touring or just plain relaxing. We have a two night minimum stay policy. There is some availability for the Spring Bank Holiday - don't wait too long. The August Bank Holiday is an ideal time to visit the Dales, the heather is in bloom!
