Set in 380 acres Nethergill is a mixed working hill farm home to sheep, rare breed cattle, chickens, a working Dales pony and a variety of dogs. Guests are welcome to meet and feed some of the animals. Afternoon tea with homemade flapjack in front of the fire on arrival. Three comfortable guest rooms all with en-suite bathrooms and views including one double and two twin rooms. Nethergill Farm is now licensed to serve alcohol. Sample our Deliciouslyorkshire award winning breakfast using home baked bread, home cured bacon and freshly laid eggs from Nethergill chickens. All food is locally sourced and is organic where possible.
So many things to see and do. Activities on the farm for guests include a guided farm walk, or just explore the trails on the farm yourself as well as circular walks from the farm. Meet and feed the animals including sheep, cattle and chickens. Relax and sketch, photograph or bird watch by the river, on the moorland or in the woods. Art courses with assistance from a local professional artist for small groups. Pony trekking at nearby Kilnsey, challenging fly fishing and dry stonewalling can also be arranged. There are also plenty of attractions close by to visit including the market town of Hawes, with the famous Wensleydale cheese factory, spectacular waterfalls, Bolton Abbey and Skipton Castle, something for everyone.
Nethergill has three guest bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. Hazelbank is a double room with a new King size bed, double aspect with stunning views down the dale and over the moors. Simple and calming decor. House Martins nesting at the window in Spring. Chauldron is a spacious twin room overlooking the cobbled courtyard and up the gills. Mireling is a comfortable twin room with stunning views over the moorland and beck. All guest rooms have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities for guest comfort, soft fluffy towels and luxurious toiletries. The farmhouse also has a large sitting room area exclusively for guests with a log burning stove and huge comfy sofa, as well as a small library area with a wide selection of books for guest use. There is a pretty walled garden with spectacular views across the Beck and hills.
Rustic home made evening meals are available using home grown vegetables and locally sourced ingredients. Vegetarian and gluten free options, no problem. Nethergill Farm is now licensed to sell alcohol. Nethergill is very conscious of it's carbon footprint and has planted Ellbeck Wood, 18,500 trees on part of the moorland. Recycling, composting and looking to move to a biomass boiler by Winter 2011. Also at Nethergill is Nethergill Art, a studio which art groups and photography groups are welcome to use.
