York Alternative Bed and Breakfast is exactly that, an alternative choice with a homely atmosphere and completely non-smoking. We are a cycle friendly bed and breakfast ideally situated in York, within 8 minutes walking distance from the railway station and York city centre. On street parking is available. Relax and enjoy superb homemade, local and organic produce. We cater for any special diets eg Vegan, Gluten Free, Coeliac. Having lived in and around York for the last 30 years, we can provide you with information about York and the local area you may not find in the guide books.

We pride ourselves in offering an alternative to the larger, more impersonal types of accommodation. Our aim is to make your stay as relaxing as possible, therefore we don't take bookings for Stag and Hen parties, and suggest late night drinkers look elsewhere!

Additional Information

We have one double room (decorated with a 'Cat' theme) overlooking our secluded back garden and one twin room (decorated with a 'Gecko' theme), this overlooks the front garden and street. Depending on availability, we offer single occupancy at no extra cost. Both rooms are equipped with TV, hair dryer, radio alarm, fresh flowers, toiletries not tested on animal. Filtered water, hot drinks and home made biscuits are provided. Resurgence magazines are available to read and pass on.

Specialities

This is a small family run Bed and Breakfast with resident friendly cat Hoover. Both rooms overlook gardens which is unusual so close to the city centre. We are in walking distance to all city attractions and a few minutes from the City walls. Feedback from guests say their stay has been enhanced by the relaxed, friendly atmosphere in our home.
