Historic Thornton Watlass Hall is set within five acres of gardens in estate parkland on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Hall is ideally placed for exploring Yorkshire, and is located just 11 miles North of Ripon, 4 miles from the A1, 11 from the main railway line at Northallerton and 18 from Teeside Airport. York, Harrogate and Leeds are all within easy reach to the south. The Hall's interior is splendidly unspoilt and furnished with antiques and character touches. The Hall has also been featured over the years on different television dramas such as All Creatures Great and Small, Wuthering Heights and Heartbeat.

The hall stands at the North end of Thornton Watlass village in a large park, and a garden area of about four and a half acres. It consists of a main block on the South side, with wings running North on the East and West sides. It is built of stone from various sources, with the walls about 3ft thick. Why not relax in our beautiful rose garden and gardens surrounding the hall. Other rooms to explore in the hall include The Drawing Room and The Billiard Room. There is also an extensive library with books on many subjects, having been collected by members of the family for the last 400 years, a few going back to the 16th century. Though still occupied as a private home, Thornton Watlass Hall caters for guests, with luxurious rooms, all refurbished to the highest standards. We are licensed to serve drinks to guests.
