Fully equipped kitchen - cooking won't be a chore on this holiday!Smugglers Rock Cottages are 3 beautiful self catering cottages set in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and sea. All three charming non-smoking cottages are self contained and sleep four people (including a baby in a travel cot), and are equipped with colour TV, DVD player, digibox, CD/stereo, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric cooker, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, and all are provided with patio furniture and barbecue. Smugglers Rock and Smugglers Cove cottages have been converted from the stable of the old inn. Smugglers View is a conversion from part of the main guesthouse. Guests have easy access to all local Yorkshire coast resorts such as Whitby with attractions such as the Abbey, and Scarborough with it's beautiful Victorian bays and promenade.

For the convenience of our guests, we provide a starter welcome pack in each cottage for arrival. All three cottages allow one well behaved dog (2 out of season), by arrangement ONLY, but which must not be left unattended in the cottages or allowed in the bedrooms. Smugglers Rock and Smugglers Cove cottages have electric storage heaters, and have a 3 star rating with the English Tourist Board. Smugglers View cottage has a 4 star rating and has oil fired central heating. Guests are close to amenities, including several good pubs and restaurants in the area and several supermarkets within the nearby towns of Scarborough and Whitby.
Smugglers Rock Cottage includes a ground floor entrance vestible with door to the lounge. The lounge has a staircase to first floor and door to kitchen/diner. There is a fully equipped kitchen/diner with washing machine and door leading to shared patio/garden area and parking. The first floor has two bedrooms, 1 double (which can also accommodate a travel cot), and one twin (2 x 2'6" beds), a bathroom with 3-piece suite with shower over bath. Smugglers Rock has superb coastal views from some windows. Smugglers Cove cottage also has a ground floor entrance vestibule with door to lounge. Inner hallway with wide spiral staircase to first floor and door to kitchen. Kitchen/diner with door leading to shared patio/garden area and parking. The first floor has two bedrooms, 1 double (can also accommodate travel cot), and one twin (2 x 2'" beds), a bathroom with 3-piece suite with shower over bath. Again, some windows have superb coastal views. Smugglers View Cottage includes a ground floor entrance from private gravelled patio area to kitchen/diner with fully fitted units, and washer/dryer. The dining area has pine furniture and a door to the inner hallway. The hallway has doors leading to a double bedroom with 4-poster bed (can also accommodate travel cot), twin bedroom (2 x 2'6" beds), shower room with power shower, staircase to first floor. The first floor has stairs leading directly into lounge with stripped pine floor, wood-burning stove and spectacular views down the coast towards Flamborough Head. This cottage was new in 2003 and is furnished to a very high standard with solid pine furniture. Guests should note that because the staircase opens directly into the upstairs lounge, care needs to be taken with small children.
There are lots of outdoor pursuits and activities for holidaymakers around Ravenscar including pony and husky trekking, cycle hire, tennis and golf are all available locally. The walking is excellent with the dis-used railway line and the Cleveland Way. The new Moors to Coast cycle route also runs past the house. There is a variety of restaurants in Scarborough and Whitby, with several good pubs in the vicinity of Ravenscar, all of which serve excellent food. There is access to our local beach (via steps) a couple of miles from Smugglers Rock. There are also lovely beaches in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey.

Travelling from the south, take the A171 towards Whitby at Cloughton and about 6 miles outside Scarborough take the righthand turn marked Ravenscar. Keep on this road towards the village for about 5 miles, then up the hill towards Ravenscar there is a disused windmill on the right. Smugglers Rock is opposite on the left. Drive past it, and continue into the car park around the back. The cottage entrances are here. From the North, head towards Whitby and take the A171 towards Scarborough. About 9 miles out of Whitby on the left hand bend you'll spot the Falcon Inn. Turn left, then left again and follow the road to the bottom of the hill. Turn left to Ravenscar, and follow above at the disused windmill.
