For luxurious self-catering holiday cottage accommodation in Yorkshire, close to Ripon and York Thatch Cottage is the perfect choice. This beautifully decorated cottage combines modern luxuries with traditional charm. The location is perfect in the picturesque village of Stonegrave, situated between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York. York is just a 30 minute drive away. It has a unique and captivating landscape with its well-wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields and beautiful parkland landscapes. It's a perfect spot for ramblers, golfers, cyclists, families and couples. Attractions in the area are many, including The Holy Trinity or Stonegrave Minster, which is the smallest Minster in the country and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. If you love horse racing, then we're ideal, as we're surrounded by Yorkshire's finest Racecourses including York, Thirsk, Ripon, Catterick, Redcar and Wetherby, all of which are within a 30 to 40 minute drive. Thatch Cottage is the perfect base to explore Herriott country, with day trips to the coastlines of Whitby and Scarborough.
Thatch Cottage itself stands in a large private garden and offers parking space for 4+ cars. The garden is well equipped with garden furniture and a barbeque during the summer period. All duvets, linen and towels are provided and heating and electricity are included in the rental. We welcome children, and a cot can be provided on request, but cot linen is not provided. Unfortunately no pets are allowed and we operate a no smoking policy.
The cottage is spacious and sleeps upto six people. Thatch Cottage is luxuriously decorated throughout, mixing a modern contemporary style with antique touches. On the ground floor the accommodation includes a Dining Hall with wooden floors and a traditional ornamental fireplace. There's a sitting Room which is spacious and light and has a surrounding brick fireplace with solid fuel stove, and comfortable furnishings under oak beams. A TV/VCR and DVD are provided. The Kitchen/Breakfast Room is fully equipped, and has an Original Yorkshire range as a centrepiece, as well as superb views from the windows. Perfect for walkers and families particularly is the Utility Room with automatic washer, dryer and WC. On the first floor there are 3 stylish bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has an antique walnut double bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet and views to the East. Bedroom 2 features antique oak double bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet and views to the East. Bedroom 3 is distinctive with it's large antique walnut wardrobe, traditional twin beds, en-suite bathroom with power shower and views to the West. The Bathroom has a stunning roll-top bath with ball and claw feet, WC, wash area and spectacular views to the South. All rooms are finished to the highest standards with traditional furniture and stylish touches.
