1. The A171 from Guisbrough joins the A169 from Pickering a few miles west of Whitby. Follow the A171 into Whitby until you come to a set of traffic lights where the A171 turns right to Scarborough. At these traffic lights, turn left - Elford House is about 25 metres on the right. 2. From Middlesbrough on the A174, follow the signs for Whitby until you cross a roundabout and go down a hill with a park on the left. At the roundabout at the bottom of this hill, follow the Scarborough signs (leave the roundabout at three o'clock) - Elford House is a couple of hundred metres on the left, just before the traffic lights. 3. From Scarborough on the A171, ignore the first Whitby turn (also signed to the Abbey) and cross the high bridge over the river. Go straight across the traffic lights and Elford House is 25 metres on the right.
