The main room which provides a dining/recreation area for 32 people with tables and chairs for all.The Boarshurst Centre provides cheap and well equipped group accommodation in beautiful countryside, making it a perfect venue for group outdoor activities such as climbing and walking. The centre is a traditional stone, single storied building located in the village of Greenfield, Saddleworth, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Groups of up to 32 people can hire the Centre, solely for their own use, on all days of the week. All kinds of outdoor activities can be enjoyed from the Centre. The building provides warm, clean and well maintained facilities which make the Boarshurst Centre one of the best facilities of its kind in the whole of North West England.
We welcome child, youth and adult groups which emanate from proper organizations and seek, with proper equipment and under qualified leadership and adequate insurance, to practice outdoor pursuits. The centre is popular with groups such as the Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Walking Clubs, Rock Climbing Groups, Cycling Clubs, Running Clubs, Groups from The Prince's Trust and Groups of people who are Mentally or Physically Handicapped. The centre has excellent facilities and access for disabled visitors.
Facilities at the Boarhurst Centre are excellent and include a main room which provides a dining/recreation area for 32 people with tables and chairs for all. There are two separate dormitories, both in Bunkhouse Style, and each sleeps 12 People. There are two attached leaders dormitories each for 4 people. Both main dormitories are fitted with dehumidifiers. Each bunk has a mattress and pillow fitted with a cover. Groups may either bring their own sleeping bags or a covered duvet can be supplied for a small additional charge. All group members should bring single sheets to cover the bunk mattresses which are plastic covered. Modern male and female toilets are situated at opposite ends of the building and each has 2 showers, 2 toilets and wash basins. One toilet in each area is accessible to physically disabled visitors and is alarmed. Toilets are fitted with automatic lighting. The kitchen facilities include a large modern cooker, a large American style fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, toasters and a full range of crockery, utensils and cutlery.
A washing machine and tumble dryer are available for use and a drying room/cloak room is available also. A telephone (No. 01457 - 876313) is available for your convenience. Wheelchair access is provided at the front and rear entrances and the car park will accommodate 10 vehicles. The front and rear entrance areas are lit by a motion activated security light and the rear entrance provides access to a grassed play area which is separated from the road and car park.
