Email Enquiryfor more informationDowning Holiday Cottage is a delightfully spacious self-catering accommodation, most conveniently situated for visiting nearby Fountains Abbey, a spectacular Yorkshire attraction. The cottage sleeps 5+ guests, and is situated in Studley Roger, a pretty little village directly adjacent to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Park. This historic cottage dates from the 18th century, and retains all it's traditional charm. Exquisite features include an open fireplace, exposed beams and hardwood floors, as well as a beautiful walled private garden.
Located on the outside of the tranquil Yorkshire cottage Ripon in between the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. There are plenty of activities for guests to enjoy including the many rolling hills to explore on foot or by bike. Pop into Ripon where guests can enjoy many attractions inlcuding Ripon cathedral, or travel South to Harrogate where you can enjoy afternoon tea at Betty's Tea Shop or further to Leeds and York where there are a plethora of shops and restaurants.
Downing cottage is attractively appointed, with spacious gardens back and front, a main living room with fireplace and a country cottage style decor. The kitchen again is an attractive cottage style, with all modern amenities. The cottage is non smoking throughout and prices are weekly rates which vary depending on the time of year. Please check when booking. Changeover days are usually on Fridays in the summer holidays. The master bedroom has a 4-poster double bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The third bedroom/study also has a single bed, and there's a beautiful converted attic for additional sleeping (children love this!).
Downing Cottage has a very special location which makes for a truly memorable holiday in a beautiful part of n. Yorkshire. So many interesting places to visit which are no distance at all. Oil central heating has been newly installed but the open coal fire has been retained for cosy evenings in the winter. The attic playroom with its Victorian Dolls House is a favourite with children. Downing Cottage is also available furnished for long- term lets.
