A comfortable tv/bar lounge - perfect to relax in after a hard days sightseeing.A finalist in the 2005 Guesthouse of the Year competition run by the York Tourism Bureau. Olga's Guest House, named after its eponymous proprietor, is a warm, friendly and traditional Yorkshire 'œbed and breakfast'. Whether staying in York on holiday or on business the guesthouse offer superb accommodation and fabulous breakfasts. The guest house is perfectly located, a short drive or walk from York's historic City Centre with the bonus of easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales.
The guest house was originally commissioned as accommodation in the late 1800s and the guesthouse still maintains many of the original features from the Victorian era: ornate ceilings, marble fireplaces, mosaic tiled hallway and stained glass internal vestibule doors. The guest house, located on Wenlock Terrace just off the A19 Fulford Road, was originally built as accommodation for Senior Cavalry Officers. The British army has been in the area since the 1700s and although the original Cavalry Depot now has York's Police Headquarters built on the site, the army are only around the corner at Imphal barracks. Don't just take our word for it...this is what some of our guests have written in our visitor book: "Comfortable, see you on the refresher course" 20/3/1991 S.Coates, N.Y.Police, Stokesley. "Looking forward to coming again" 23/5/1992 D. Grist, Kirkliston, Scotland. "Very nice people; nice stay" 20/7/1995 A. Chifilian, Los Angeles, California. "Nice & cosy guesthouse. Very touched by your warm welcoming and we won't forget it. Thank you very very very much." 6/8/1999 LY Siv Kim. Cholet, France. "Outstanding service" 3/11/2001 Cheng Nou Kee/Ko Man Sum. Hong Kong. "Beautiful rooms on the top floor, cheers!" 17/3/02 Jessica & Taylor Gegian. British Columbia, Canada. "More than a house" 31/3/02 Fred Chan - Hong Kong. "What style!" 10/7/03 Julie & Bob. Belgium.
