The perfect self-catering holiday spot, Hen House Cottage is in the little moorland village of Gillamoor, 3 miles from Kirkbymoorside and 7 miles from Pickering, on the southern side of the North York Moors National Park. The location of the cottage makes this the ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire Moors and coast, and is less than an hour from York. There are lots of beautiful walks around the village and further afield in the National Park. I have written up lots of the walks we do from the front door with the dog. The Henhouse is single storey with a lovely garden and patio, wood burning stove and lots of books, games and DVD's if you just want to chill out.

5 star Hen House Cottage itself is thoughtfully laid out, beautifully furnished and decorated in a mix of modern and traditional colours and textiles, with original artworks by local artists. The fully equipped kitchen contains microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer and full sized electric cooker. In the dining/living area with its wood-burning stove (an ample supply of wood is provided) there is a large comfy sofa and a variety of DVDs and CDs to entertain you. On a warm evening feel free to make use of the BBQ, sit, relax and take in your surroundings with a glass of wine. Walk out the French doors onto the patio and secluded gated garden with glorious views over the moors, overlooked only by the horses in the field over the fence. The garden has a dog proof fence.
