A warm welcome awaits everyone at The Oakwheel Inn, situated in the village of Burniston on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park just off the A171, between Whitby and Scarborough. The Oakwheel includes a friendly local bar that boasts a minimum of 3 hand pulled ales,Black sheep, Tetleys and John Smiths. In the winter your comfort is enhanced with a traditional open log fire, and patio doors lead to a heated smoking area and garden seating. At The Oakwheel we pride ourselves with the quality of food, served in the bar offering traditional home cooked meals with daily specials.
Over the years The Oakwheel has become a popular place to stay for touring many places of interest, besides the resorts of Whitby and Scarborough, there are the delightful local villages of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay, staiths, Filey and Bridlington. The city of York is within driving distance and the market town of Pickering, the departure point for the North Yorkshire Moors railway to Heartbeat Goathland. Golf is well provided for in the area with northcliff, southcliff, Whitby, Filey and Ganton.
We have 5 en-suite rooms - 3 doubles are en-suite with tea and coffee making facilities, wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD with freeview, complimentary toiletries, towels, hairdryer, radio/alarm. 1 twin room en-suite having above facilities 1 double is en-suite having above facilities but no DVD/freeview. rooms are seviced daily arrivals after 4.30pm - departure before 10.00am
Homecooked Barmeals with specialboards are very popular, with food sorced localy were possible, prepared by Chef/Landlord Dave Kemp and his team, from Fresh Fish, Homemade individual steak pie, fresh chicken dishes, Gammon and a choice of steaks to name but a few, food is served Tuesday to Saturday 5.30 till 8.30pm and Sunday Lunch 12 till 2.00pm.The property offers an outdoor heated smoking area.garden seating and ample car parking,local bus route to scarborough/whitby available in the village
