Visit Websitefor more informationA character coastal holiday cottage in Staithes, a working fishing village on the Yorkshire coast that remains untouched by the hustle and bustle of modern life. The cottage is a 250 year old former fisherman's cottage located in the very heart of the village, next to the friendly local pub, and sleeps up to four people. This wonderful property retains many of its original features including beamed ceilings, stone fireplace and log burner, sash and sliding windows. Staithes itself is nestled among the Jurassic cliffs at the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and is renowned for its winding alleys, nooks, crannies and cobbled streets.
The surrounding area is renowned for its surfing, fishing, fossil hunting, climbing and walking, lying as it does on the Cleveland Way. The cottages of the village seem to tumble towards the shoreline where you will find a sandy beach and there are some spectacular walks around the cliffs, though you must take care not to get cut off by the tides (timetables are provided at the cottage). Attractions to be found within easy reach include Whitby, York, Goathland (Hogsmeade from the harry Potter films and home to the Hogwarts Express in season).
The cottage has been sympathetically renovated, retaining all original features, open beams throughout, log burning stove and original windows. It has been furnished in a cosy and comfortable manner, whilst providing all mod cons. The Cottage is equipped with to TV, DVD, iPod dock, central heating, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, free Wi-Fi Internet and payphone. The cottage sleeps up to four people in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom.
The Cottage, unlike a lot of other properties in the town, provides quality bed linen and towels. Blankets, bowls, doggy towels and sofa covers are also provided for those travelling with one well behaved canine companion.
