    The Countryman's Inn offers AA 3 Star hotel accommodation in the village of Hunton, in Lower Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, and offers a warm welcome to all guests. They will experience a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, whether it be with a traditional bar meal in the bar area with the beamed ceilings and splendid open seasonal log fire or sampling some fine cuisine in the AA award winning restaurant, where Tastecard Members can enjoy discounted offers from our a la carte menu, please refer to our entry on the Tastecard website for details of availability. The surrounding areas will offer you many attractions, and you will encounter some unforgettable sights. Particular areas of interest are Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, Middleham, Richmond or Bolton castles, or nearby Jerveux Abby. These sites are sure to please people of all ages.

    Why not visit the Forbidden Corner? Here you will find a unique Labyrinth of chambers, tunnels and follies, as you explore this wondrous place. Situated in Tupgill Park, this magical place will offer something for all the family! The area also offers opportunities for those who prefer to be more active. For racing enthusiasts there are several local racecourses with meetings throughout the year, as well as the racehorse training centre of Middleham which houses the largest racing stable in the country & celebrates a charity Stable Open Day each Good Friday. At other times individual visits to the gallops and stable visits can be arranged. For the angler fly fishing can be arranged on the River Ure & there are several other lakes, streams & resevoirs available on a day ticket basis for the avid fisherman. The open countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park are on your doorstep providing a haven for the rambler and wildlife enthusiast. This truly is a beautiful part of the country but for a change the North Yorkshire Moors National Park,historic York or the shopping & nightlife of Newcastle & Leeds are as short drive away! For golf enthusiasts there are several local courses to suit all golfers. Discounted green fees & discounted accomadation packages are available for residents playing at Bedale Golf Club.

    Additional Information

    There are four en suite rooms available with your comfort in mind. Room 1 presents you with a large double/triple bed option and en-suite bathroom with bath and power shower. Room 2 is a superior double en-suite with power shower, and Room 3 is a traditional double en-suite with shower. Room 4 is new for 2011 and available from April. Room 4 is a very large en suite double/ family room with bath & power shower. This room can accomadate up to 6 people, comprising one double and up to 4 singles. Ideal for families and groups. All the rooms are beautifully styled with superb furnishings, and come equipped with flat-screen TVs some with DVD, DAB alarm radios and tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have free Wi-Fi access for guests.

    Specialities

    We have a fine selection of up to 5 local & regional cask ales. The pub has achieved Casque Mark accreditation in March 2011, the "Mark of a perfect pint!" and supports the CAMRA LocAle scheme with regular guest ales from our smaller breweries. The Head Brewer of one of our local "Legendary Ales" is in the bar most nights carrying out market research & quality sampling! We hold music nights every two weeks on a Monday night (See availability calender for specific dates) and our village Book Club is held in the bar every 4th Sunday of the month. Our AA award winning restaurant offers a wide selection of locally sourced produce and ingredients to present you with exceptional food including Pub Classics, Vegitarian and Childrens menus as well as an extensive a la carte menu.
